Padmashri Awards 2009-A FARCE

The coveted Padmashri Awards 2009 for exellence in the field of sports were given to Shri Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Shri Abhinav Bindra and our very own Bhajji paaji (God only knows why?). Now Dhoni and Bindra truly deserve this award but I was bewildered to see Bhajji getting this award. Off late I haven't seen a single match winning performance by him, sardarji was too busy in his own controversies like Maaki or Monkey incident with Andrew Symonds and the slapgate controversy with Sreesanth. Its a shame to give such a prestigious award to a person who has no respect for the game or himself.
What happened to Vijendra Singh the boxer who got us a bronze medal initially the Indian Government were gung-ho about him offering him land and goodies and now he is nowhere to be seen.
Or the wrestler Sushil Kumar who trained night and day at the Najafgarh Akhara's and got us the silver medal .
Or the badminton teenage sensation Saina Nehwal who is in her early teens and is already ranked 10. Although Sania Mirza got the same award in 2006 when her rank was in late 50's, probably they must have also taken the glamour quotient into account(thats just my interpretation) .
If they so desperately wanted to give this award to an Indian bowler they shoud have chosen Zaheer Khan who has produced many match winning performances for India and his record is also way way better than Bhajji's.
Even the media kept their mouth zipped about these awards it was shocking as I expected some reaction from the print media or the news but there was none...the Government of India should wake from its deep slumber, if they want theIndian Sportperson to do wellon world stage they ahould stop this BASPHEMY...
